Ansu Fati set for permanent Monaco move

Monaco are set to make Ansu Fati’s stay permanent after the winger’s eye-catching loan spell in the Principality.

Monaco are reportedly close to finalising a deal with Barcelona to sign Ansu Fati on a permanent basis after his successful season-long loan. The Ligue 1 side are prepared to trigger the €11 million buy-out clause agreed with Barca and are now working with his agent Jorge Mendes to wrap up the final contract details.

The Spaniard, who officially joined Monaco on July 1st 2025, has rebuilt his confidence and rhythm in France after struggling for minutes at Camp Nou. He scored 12 goals in all competitions last season, rediscovering the clinical edge that once made him one of La Liga’s brightest prospects.

Fati underlined that finishing instinct on his Monaco debut on 18 September 2025, coming off the bench to net a late consolation in a 4-1 Champions League defeat to Club Brugge. His 90+2nd-minute strike highlighted his sharpness in the box despite Monaco’s defensive issues that night.

Barcelona’s signing of Anthony Gordon has effectively closed the door on Fati’s return, clearing the path for Monaco to make him a key piece of their long-term project.
