Ansu Fati set for permanent Monaco move from Barcelona

Ansu Fati is close to making his move from Barcelona to Monaco permanent after a strong loan spell in Ligue 1.

Fabrizio Romano has indicated that the deal is effectively agreed, with Monaco now ready to trigger the terms needed to keep the forward long term.

The transfer is expected to be worth around €11 million, and Barcelona will also keep a sell-on clause as part of the agreement. That means the Spanish club could still benefit if Fati is sold again in the future.

Fati marked his debut for Monaco on 18 September 2025 in a UEFA Champions League league phase match against Club Brugge, scoring a consolation goal in the 90+2nd minute during a 4-1 loss, demonstrating his clinical finishing despite the team’s defensive struggles.

Fati’s decision to stay has also been shaped by Monaco’s new project under head coach Filipe Luis. The 23-year-old has reportedly bought into the club’s direction and wants to remain part of the plan.

After difficult final seasons in Barcelona, marked by fitness concerns and inconsistency, Fati has found fresh momentum in France. Regular minutes and renewed confidence have helped him rediscover his form, making this permanent switch look like the right next step.
