Ansu Fati set for €11 million Monaco move as Barcelona finalise sale
Barcelona are set to sell winger Ansu Fati permanently to Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco, with the Monegasque club having triggered the forward’s €11 million purchase clause after his impressive season on loan in France.
Only one small detail remains before the transfer is completed, as the two clubs are currently negotiating a future sell-on clause. Barcelona are demanding a substantial percentage, whereas Monaco are only willing to offer a 10% share of any future sale.
Fati’s decision to continue at Monaco has also been influenced by the club’s new direction under head coach Filipe Luís, with the 23-year-old reportedly ready to remain as part of the Brazilian’s project. After struggling for consistency and fitness during his final years at Barcelona, Fati revived his career in France, enjoying regular playing time and rediscovering his scoring form.
The Spanish giants need this deal finalised quickly before June 30th to help them return to the 1:1 salary cap rule. Combining the transfer fee and significant wage savings, Barcelona stand to generate close to €20 million to fund future summer signings.
