Ansu Fati once more found the net but Monaco’s night ended in disappointment with a 3-1 defeat to Lorient on September 27.

The Spanish forward came off the bench in the second half and calmly converted a stoppage-time penalty, marking his fourth goal in just three matches for the club.

The contest had already tilted against Monaco when defender Thilo Kehrer received a first-half red card, forcing Adi Hutter’s men to battle with ten players. Lorient seized their advantage with quick attacking play that Monaco could not contain. Fati’s late strike offered a moment of consolation for traveling fans but could not alter the outcome.

Since arriving on loan from Barcelona, Fati has been a spark in attack. He previously grabbed a quick brace against Metz in Ligue 1, adding to a growing sense of belief that his sharpness is returning. Manager Adi Hutter explained that his limited minutes are to protect him after five months without a start, saying it was a precautionary step to avoid injuries.

Despite the setback, Fati’s form provides optimism as Monaco prepare for their Champions League test against Manchester City.
