Ansu Fati return to Barcelona back on the table

AS Monaco’s hopes of keeping Ansu Fati permanently have been thrown into doubt, with the winger now seriously considering a return to Barcelona.

A move to stay in the Principality had appeared close, but according to Mundo Deportivo, the deal is not fully sealed because the player himself has not yet given his final approval. Fati is said to believe he could still have a real role under Hansi Flick at Barca, which changes the dynamic just when Monaco thought a swift agreement was within reach.

In Spain, journalist Gabriel Sans points out that while Barca are scouring the market for a left winger and ready to spend big on names like Julián Álvarez or Marcus Rashford, Fati represents a “zero‑cost” option, a detail that fits perfectly with the club’s financial reality.

He also stresses that Fati knows the club inside out, has strong relationships in the dressing room, and would integrate instantly if recalled.

After a strong end to the season in Ligue 1, the 21‑year‑old has rebuilt his reputation, meaning Monaco may have to wait longer to know whether their loan star will stay or head back to Camp Nou.
