Anouar Tamoune: Moroccan left-back joins Xerez Deportivo from UD Melilla
Moroccan defender Anouar Tamoune has joined Spanish side Xerez Deportivo from UD Melilla, strengthening the club’s options at left-back ahead of the new campaign.
The 22-year-old, born in Rabat and naturally left-footed, moves within the Spanish pyramid after a spell at Melilla, where he continued his development in senior football. The transfer, completed on 14 July 2026, sees Tamoune registered with Xerez Deportivo FC as his new club.
Tamoune arrives with experience in Spain’s lower divisions, having featured in the Segunda Federacion for Melilla. He made appearances in Group V of the competition, as well as being part of squads competing in other domestic tournaments, gaining minutes at senior level as he adjusted to the demands of European football.
Before moving to Spain, Tamoune came through the ranks in his homeland with FAR Rabat, progressing from the youth setup into the reserve side. He then switched to the RCA reserves in January 2024, continuing his grounding in Moroccan football before securing his move abroad to Melilla later that year.
Standing at 1.81m, Tamoune is expected to operate primarily as a left-back for Xerez, offering defensive cover on the flank and balance on his natural side. His arrival adds depth to a position that is often crucial in the Segunda Federacion, where squad versatility and physical readiness across a long season can prove decisive.
The move marks Tamoune’s first transfer between Spanish clubs and confirms his status as a Xerez Deportivo player for the 2026-27 season.
