Anouar El Azzouzi: Morocco-born midfielder joins Frosinone on free transfer from Fortuna Dusseldorf

Frosinone have signed Morocco-born Dutch midfielder Anouar El Azzouzi from Fortuna Dusseldorf on a free transfer. The 25-year-old central midfielder has agreed a contract with the Serie A club running until 30 June 2029.

El Azzouzi, who was born in Veenendaal and stands at 1.87m, arrives in Italy after a season with the German side, who he joined from PEC Zwolle in 2025. The move marks his first spell in Serie A and continues a career that has already taken in senior football in the Netherlands and Germany.

Comfortable in central midfield and preferring his right foot, El Azzouzi brings experience from the Eredivisie, 2. Bundesliga and Dutch second tier. Across his senior league career he has made more than 140 appearances, including 55 in the Eredivisie and 29 in Germany’s second division, as well as featuring in domestic cup competitions in both countries.

Before moving to Germany, El Azzouzi established himself at PEC Zwolle following a transfer from FC Dordrecht in 2023. His performances in the Dutch leagues followed earlier development at Vitesse and NEC, where he progressed through various youth and under-21 sides.

El Azzouzi, who holds both Moroccan and Dutch nationality, will now look to translate that experience to Italian football after completing his permanent move to Frosinone on a free transfer.
