Anouar Boukhalfa: Algerian left-back joins USM Khenchela on free transfer from MO Bejaia

Algerian defender Anouar Boukhalfa has joined USM Khenchela on a free transfer from MO Bejaia. The 28-year-old left-back moves into Ligue 1, strengthening Khenchela’s defensive options on the flank ahead of the new campaign.

Boukhalfa, who prefers to operate on the left side of defence, completed his switch on 21 July 2026 after reaching the end of his spell with MO Bejaia. The move keeps him in Algerian football but represents a step up in division as he links up with a side competing in the top flight.

The defender had only arrived at MO Bejaia earlier in the year, also on a free transfer, having previously been with CR Beni Thour. His short stint at Bejaia was enough to attract interest from Khenchela, who have opted to add his experience and left-footed balance to their back line.

Boukhalfa has already featured in national cup competition, making an appearance in the Coupe d’Algerie and playing 76 minutes in that outing. That exposure to knockout football adds to his credentials as he now looks to adapt to the demands of Ligue 1.

At 28, Boukhalfa joins USM Khenchela with a blend of experience in domestic competitions and positional versatility down the left side of defence, finalising a free transfer move from MO Bejaia to the Ligue 1 club.
