Anointed Chukwu joins Wingate FC on free transfer
English-Nigerian centre-forward Anointed Chukwu has joined Wingate FC from Worthing on a free transfer, adding a 25-year-old striker to the club’s squad for the 2026-27 season.
Chukwu’s move was completed on 2 August 2026 after he returned to Worthing at the end of the previous campaign. He had spent part of the 2025-26 season on loan at Chippenham, with that temporary spell ending on 31 May before his switch to Wingate was finalised.
The 1.93m striker has recorded 76 appearances in the National League South, scoring 11 goals and providing four assists. His playing record also includes one appearance in the National League North.
Chukwu began his senior career with Salford Under-18s before moving through a number of clubs in the English non-league system. He joined East Thurrock and later Romford during the 2020-21 season, before returning to Grays Athletic in 2022 following an earlier spell with the club.
He moved to Harrow Borough in January 2023 and subsequently joined Wingate FC in July that year. After one season with Wingate, Chukwu signed for Welling United in July 2024 and then moved to Enfield Town on a free transfer in December of the same year.
His next move came in July 2025, when he joined Worthing, the club he represented before his loan to Chippenham. That spell included a temporary switch to Chippenham in November 2025, giving Chukwu further experience before he returned to Worthing in the spring.
Chukwu is right-footed and operates primarily through the centre of the attack. He holds English and Nigerian nationality and was born in London on 18 September 2000.
The move brings him back to Wingate after his previous spell at the club, which began in 2023. His arrival also represents the latest stage of a career that has included senior football with clubs across the National League system and the divisions below it.
Chukwu completed his free transfer from Worthing to Wingate FC on 2 August 2026.
