Anis Hadj Moussa criticised by FC Lisse coach over Feyenoord form
Feyenoord winger Anis Hadj Moussa has come under criticism from FC Lisse coach Leen van Steensel, who questioned the Algerian international’s effectiveness and suitability for the Dutch club.
Speaking on FC Rijnmond, Van Steensel said, “If you want Feyenoord to be at the top, he’s not good enough for Feyenoord.”
He highlighted concerns over Hadj Moussa’s output, arguing that flashy dribbling and quick changes of direction must translate into tangible results on the pitch.
“His dribbling and changes of direction are certainly pleasing, but ultimately, what matters is the effectiveness and quality of his crosses.
If you cross twenty times and none of the balls are headed… you won’t score any goals,” Van Steensel added.
He joked that the winger “wouldn’t play for FC Lisse either,” emphasizing his frustration with the lack of decisive contributions.
Van Steensel also questioned Hadj Moussa’s impact in key matches. “No, I don’t think he’s good enough for Feyenoord.
When you have that much possession, it should translate into goals and assists, shouldn’t it? I think he doesn’t have enough of them.
How many times has he made the difference this season in decisive matches? I’m not talking about 2, 3, or 4-0 wins, but really just 1-0 wins.”
Despite the criticism, Hadj Moussa has been one of Feyenoord’s standout performers this season.
The 24-year-old has registered 11 goals and six assists in 35 appearances, contributing to the club under Robin van Persie’s management.
The winger’s future at De Kuip appears uncertain, with speculation mounting over a potential departure this summer.
Hadj Moussa remains under contract with Feyenoord until mid-2030, but the ongoing criticism may influence transfer discussions ahead of the new season.
