Angolan forward M’Bala Nzola played a key role in RC Lens’ 2-0 victory over Montpellier in the French Ligue 1 on Friday night, finding the back of the net to inspire his side to an important win.
Nzola wasted no time making an impact, opening the scoring in the first minute after latching onto a precise pass and coolly slotting the ball past the goalkeeper.
Lens thought they had doubled their lead in the 24th minute when Goduine Koyalipou found the bottom left corner with a composed finish. However, after a VAR review, the goal was ruled out due to a foul in the build-up.
The visitors remained dominant and eventually sealed the victory in the 61st minute when Jeremy Agbonifo capitalised on a well-placed pass to fire home, securing all three points for Lens.
Nzola’s early goal set the tone for a strong performance, as Lens continued their push in the Ligue 1 campaign with a well-earned win.
At his goal against Montpellier, the Angolan now has six goals in the French Ligue 1 this season.
