Angola delivered a resounding performance in the COSAFA Cup final, thrashing Namibia 5-0 at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday afternoon. This decisive victory marked one of the most dominant displays in the tournament’s recent history.
The final, held between the Nelson Mandela Bay and Isaac Wolfson Stadium, followed an exciting showdown for third place between Comoros and Mozambique.
Angola, known as the Black Sable Antelopes, wasted no time in establishing their dominance against Namibia’s Brave Warriors.
Angola’s early momentum was evident as they opened the scoring in the 12th minute. Pedro Bondo Francisco found the back of the net, setting the tone for what would become a relentless offensive onslaught.
Just before halftime, Depu doubled Angola’s lead, cementing his status as one of the standout players in this year’s tournament.
The second half saw Victor Pedro Nanque further extend Angola’s lead with a brace, showcasing his clinical finishing skills.
Keliano Manuel capped off the scoring in the 70th minute, leaving Namibia with no chance of a comeback.
In the match for third place, Comoros and Mozambique engaged in a thrilling contest that required a penalty shootout to determine the winner.
Kassim Hadji gave Comoros the lead in the 32nd minute, but Mozambique’s Chamito Alfandega equalized early in the second half.
Ibroihim Youssouf restored Comoros’ advantage in the 70th minute, only for Alfandega to complete his brace and level the match again in the 78th minute.
The game ended 2-2 after regulation time, and Mozambique emerged victorious with a 3-1 win in the penalty shootout.
