Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has heaped praise on teammate Mohamed Salah, claiming the Egyptian forward is playing “on a different world” after his match-winning display against Manchester City on Sunday.
Salah was instrumental in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory, scoring one goal and setting up another for Dominik Szoboszlai as Arne Slot’s side extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table to 11 points.
The 31-year-old has now been involved in 41 Premier League goals this season, netting 25 and providing 16 assists.
Remarkably, Salah has become the first player in Premier League history to register 40+ goal involvements in two separate campaigns, having previously done so in 2017-18 (42).
Speaking to BBC Match of the Day, Robertson was full of admiration for his teammate.
“I can’t be bothered talking about him to be honest! No, he’s been unbelievable,” Robertson said.
“A set-piece routine worked, which is pleasing. Everyone had a role to play and Mo got the glory of putting it in the back of the net. Another goal and assist.
Robertson also highlighted Salah’s defensive contribution, saying, “His work rate going back the other way was unbelievable today, him and Lucho [Diaz] and that was key to us keeping a clean sheet.
“He is on a different world right now and playing out of his skin. We are very happy to have him, that’s for sure,” he added.
Salah will have the chance to break his own record when Liverpool take on Newcastle United on Wednesday, needing just two more goal involvements to surpass his previous best.
