Andy Diouf rewarded with France call-up after impressive Inter Milan form

Inter Milan defender Andy Diouf has reportedly been included in Zinédine Zidane’s first extended France squad after impressing at the start of the 2026/27 season.

The 23-year-old with Senegalese roots has made a strong beginning to the campaign with Inter, where he has started all three matches since the season began and registered two assists.

Diouf, who was born in Neuilly-sur-Seine, joined the Italian giants from RC Lens last summer and is now in contention for his first senior France call-up.

The defender played an important role in Inter’s success last season, making 29 appearances and scoring four goals as the Milan-based club won both the league title and Coppa Italia under manager Cristian Chivu.

Diouf’s progress has now reportedly earned him a place in Zidane’s initial extended squad as the former France captain prepares to begin his tenure as national team coach.

Former France youth international eyes senior debut

Diouf has represented France at Under-21 level on 10 occasions and could now take the next step into the senior national team.

France are scheduled to play four Nations League group-stage matches in the coming weeks, providing Zidane with an opportunity to assess the defender alongside the country’s established internationals.

For Diouf, a senior call-up would represent a significant milestone after his rise from Lens to one of Italy’s biggest clubs.
