Andy Delort extends career with AC Ajaccio

Algerian international Andy Delort has extended his stay at AC Ajaccio, continuing his career in Corsica as he commits to the club for the 2026–2027 season.

The 34-year-old striker, who has played at the highest level of French football with clubs including Montpellier, Nice and Nantes, has opted to prolong his journey away from the top-flight spotlight, reinforcing his connection with Ajaccio, where he previously left a strong impression.

The club confirmed the contract extension and said the decision has been welcomed warmly by supporters, who view Delort as a key figure in the team’s ongoing development.

In its official statement, AC Ajaccio highlighted the striker’s importance beyond his goals, emphasising his leadership qualities and influence within the squad.

His presence has been described as vital both on the pitch and in the dressing room, particularly as the club continues its rebuilding process.

Delort has once again played a significant role this season, contributing decisive performances that helped Ajaccio secure the Regional 2 title and achieve promotion.

His experience has been central to the team’s progress, offering stability and guidance to younger players emerging within the squad.

While his days of competing at the highest international level appear to be behind him, Delort remains a respected figure in Algerian football.

His international career includes a notable contribution to Algeria’s success at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, a tournament that marked one of the peak moments of his time with the national team.

Although a return to the Algerian national team and a potential World Cup appearance are no longer realistic ambitions, Delort’s commitment to playing remains undiminished.

His continued involvement in Corsica reflects a focus on contribution and consistency rather than status or visibility.

By choosing to remain with AC Ajaccio, Delort underlines a career defined as much by persistence and leadership as by goals, showing that his influence on the game continues even outside football’s biggest stages.
