The Ukrainian Football Federation extended an offer for Andrei Shevchenko, the former AC Milan player and Ballon d’Or winner, to take over as the head of the national team. However, Shevchenko declined the position, citing that he felt it was premature for him to assume such a role. The former footballer retired at the age of 36 after Euro 2012, during which he played a key role for Ukraine, scoring two goals against Sweden. Despite the offer from the federation, Shevchenko decided not to pursue a coaching career at that time.
