Wycombe Wanderers have completed the signing of André Vidigal from Stoke City on a free transfer, adding the Angolan-Portuguese winger to their League One squad. The 27-year-old arrives with a current market value of €1.00m, representing a notable acquisition for the Buckinghamshire club. His contract with Wycombe runs from 2026-02-02 to an undisclosed end date provided in the agreement.

The move sees Vidigal step down a division within the English pyramid, switching from the Championship to League One after leaving Stoke. The transfer was finalised on 2026-02-02, with Stoke allowing the attacker to depart at the end of his spell in the Potteries. With no fee involved, the deal gives Wycombe a proven wide option without impacting their transfer budget, while Stoke remove a player whose market value had declined from previous highs.

Primarily a left winger but comfortable operating across the attack, Vidigal brings experience from several European leagues. Born in Elvas, Portugal, and holding both Angolan and Portuguese nationality, he has previously played in the Netherlands, Cyprus and his native Portugal before moving to England. His senior career has taken him from Académica Coimbra and its U19 side, through Fortuna Sittard in the Eredivisie, a loan spell at APOEL Nicosia in Cyprus, a stint with GD Estoril Praia and then CS Marítimo in the Primeira Liga, before joining Stoke City in the summer of 2023.

Vidigal’s market value has fluctuated over the years, rising steadily in his early seasons at Fortuna Sittard and during his time at Marítimo, where it climbed to over €1m and peaked at €1.5m following his switch to Stoke. More recently, that valuation has settled back to €1.00m, reflecting a period of stagnation at Championship level prior to this free transfer.

At Stoke, Vidigal competed in one of Europe’s most demanding second tiers, the Championship, and now transitions into League One, where Wycombe will look to harness his dribbling, direct running and right-footed threat from the left flank. His varied club history suggests an adaptable player accustomed to different tactical systems and competitive environments, from promotion battles in the Netherlands to top-flight survival fights in Portugal.

For Wycombe, the signing underlines an ambition to inject top-level experience into their wide areas without paying a transfer fee, while also potentially positioning Vidigal as a key attacking outlet in their push up the League One table. Having already amassed years of professional football across multiple countries by the age of 27, he now enters a phase of his career where consistent performances in England’s third tier could restore or even enhance his value.

If Vidigal settles quickly and recaptures the form that once made him a rising asset in Portugal and the Netherlands, this contract with Wycombe, beginning on 2026-02-02, could become a pivotal chapter in his career, offering a platform to rebuild momentum and reinforce his reputation as a productive wide forward in English football.
