Andre Onana was involved in a car accident after Trabzonspor’s 2-0 Conference League victory over Hearts on Thursday evening.

The Cameroon goalkeeper was travelling home with his family when his car was hit from behind before colliding with the vehicle in front, according to reports from Turkish and English media.

Onana was taken to hospital immediately after the incident but was discharged a short time later. Trabzonspor subsequently confirmed that the former Ajax and Manchester United goalkeeper had been involved in the accident.

Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan said there was no serious or critical concern about Onana’s condition.

“There is nothing serious, nothing critical. We wish him a speedy recovery,” Dogan told Turkish broadcaster TRT Sport.

Reports suggest Onana’s car was struck from behind by another vehicle travelling at high speed. The impact reportedly pushed his car into the vehicle ahead, causing a multiple-vehicle collision.

The accident happened after Trabzonspor secured a 2-0 win against Scottish side Hearts in the Conference League. Mohamed Salah and Franculino Dju scored the goals in Thursday’s match.

Onana is spending a second successive season on loan at Trabzonspor and has made 45 appearances for the club so far.

His availability for Trabzonspor’s next league fixture against Rizespor on Monday evening remains uncertain.
