Andre Onana rejects permanent Trabzonspor transfer
Andre Onana is reportedly preparing to leave Trabzonspor at the end of the season despite the Turkish club’s desire to keep him permanently.
The Cameroon international is currently on loan from Manchester United and has established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Onana initially moved to Trabzonspor after two inconsistent seasons at Old Trafford. United signed him from Inter Milan in 2023 for €50.2 million, but the goalkeeper struggled to convince and eventually fell behind Senne Lammens in the club’s plans.
His first campaign in Turkey offered a welcome response. Onana played 33 matches, conceded 40 goals and recorded six clean sheets. Trabzonspor were satisfied enough to arrange another season-long loan without a purchase option, and the 30-year-old has already featured eight times this term.
The Turkish side reportedly hopes to negotiate a permanent transfer, but Onana does not want to spend a third season in Turkey. He is therefore expected to return to Manchester United next summer, although his stay may be brief.
Onana will enter the final year of his United contract in July 2027, while the club has already moved beyond him sporting-wise. A permanent exit appears likely, but his representatives are not currently prioritising any specific destination.
