Ghanaian international André Ayew has made his much-anticipated return to Ligue 1, signing a one-year contract with Le Havre. The 34-year-old striker re-joins the club after making a significant impact last season, when he first arrived as a joker in November 2023.

Le Havre, currently sitting 14th in the French top flight, will be hoping that Ayew’s experience and leadership can once again help them navigate a challenging campaign.

Ayew, who boasts an illustrious career with stints at clubs such as Olympique de Marseille, Lorient, Swansea City, West Ham United, and Al-Sadd in Qatar, was instrumental in securing Le Havre’s survival in Ligue 1 last season.

His five goals, including a stunning acrobatic effort against Lorient, played a crucial role in keeping the historic club afloat in a fiercely competitive league.

Despite speculation linking Ayew with a move back to Le Havre throughout the summer, financial difficulties initially stood in the way of completing the deal.

However, after months of negotiations and adjustments, Le Havre have finally been able to secure the veteran forward’s signature, making it their standout acquisition for the 2024-2025 season.

The forward’s return has been welcomed by Le Havre’s manager, Didier Digard, who is counting on Ayew’s vast experience to guide the team through another testing season in Ligue 1.

Digard’s side has faced a difficult start to the current campaign, and the arrival of a player of Ayew’s calibre is seen as a much-needed boost for the club.

Speaking about his return, Ayew said, “I feel great to be back at Le Havre.

This is a special club, and I am excited to contribute once again.

Last season was tough, but we fought hard, and I’m ready to help the team achieve its goals this year.”

Ayew’s wealth of experience on both the domestic and international stages could prove invaluable as Le Havre continue their fight to stay in Ligue 1.

With over 100 caps for Ghana and having played in some of the world’s top leagues, his leadership and footballing intelligence are expected to be key assets for the team.

Le Havre fans will no doubt be eager to see if Ayew can replicate his heroics from last season.

With his trademark resilience and flair, the veteran forward could once again be the difference-maker in Le Havre’s efforts to avoid relegation and cement their place in Ligue 1.

As Le Havre sets its sights on steadying their league form, Ayew’s return has sparked optimism among the supporters and within the squad.

With the new season well underway, all eyes will be on the experienced Ghanaian as he looks to leave his mark on French football once more.
