Stefano Okaka has made the move from Sampdoria to Anderlecht, with the Belgian club reportedly paying €3 million to sign the 25-year-old striker. Okaka, who had 4 goals in 26 starts for Sampdoria last season, has expressed his excitement about joining Anderlecht, stating that he chose the club because it’s a “big club.”
Okaka acknowledged that the Belgian league may not have the same global stature as others, but he’s ready to embrace the challenge. “There are no small leagues,” he emphasized, pointing out that even though Gent won the title last season, he’s not intimidated. In fact, he recalls his first European goal with Roma, where he scored against Gent after replacing Totti, and they won 7-1.
The Nigerian-born striker is determined to work hard and earn the trust of the coach while adapting to Anderlecht’s style and the Belgian league. Having played for nine clubs in ten years, Okaka sees this as an opportunity to settle down and make a lasting impact. He’s particularly excited about the prospect of partnering with fellow Nigerian striker Imoh Ezekiel, believing they could form a potent attacking duo due to their complementary styles—Okaka’s strength and Ezekiel’s speed.
