Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has defended Kylian Mbappe following his penalty miss in Wednesday night’s 2-1 defeat to Athletic Club.
In one week, the Frenchman has failed to score from 12 yards in two matches.
Speaking in a post-match interview after Real Madrid suffered the 2-1 defeat to Athletic Club, manager Carlo Ancelotti said Kylian Mbappe should not be judged based on penalty misses.
“I haven’t talked to him [Kylian Mbappe]. We can’t judge his whole performance [v Athletic Club] based off the missed penalty,” Carlo Ancelotti told the media.
The Real Madrid manager continued, “Sometimes you score, sometimes you miss the penalty. We have to keep going.
“We have to give Mbappe the time to adapt.
Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe has pledged to work hard to turn around his current situation.
He is confident he can do better and says he is determined to show his real self in upcoming games.
