Anass Salah-Eddine has officially chosen to represent Morocco at international level.

The 23-year-old left-back, born in Amsterdam, has completed his nationality switch, joining Walid Regragui’s growing list of dual-national talents.

Regragui had hinted at Salah-Eddine’s arrival in late August when announcing his squad for Morocco’s September camp.

He mentioned “a left-back in the process of changing nationality” without revealing the name.

At that point, speculation strongly pointed to the young defender, who had played for the Netherlands at all youth levels.

FIFA has now confirmed the switch on its official platform, making Salah-Eddine eligible to play for the Atlas Lions in upcoming international fixtures.

From Ajax to Roma, via Twente and PSV
Salah-Eddine developed through Ajax Amsterdam’s renowned youth academy before spending time with AZ Alkmaar.

His consistent performances in the Eredivisie earned him a move to AS Roma last February after a solid stint with FC Twente.

Currently on loan at PSV Eindhoven, he has already featured in key matches this season, including a notable 6-2 victory over Napoli. Standing at 1.81 metres, Salah-Eddine combines defensive solidity with attacking creativity.

His adaptability allows him to operate as a traditional full-back, a wing-back, or even a midfielder when needed.

Success with the Netherlands Youth Teams
Salah-Eddine was part of the Netherlands’ U17 European Championship-winning squad in 2019 and earned 13 caps with the U21 team.

He reached the semi-finals of the UEFA U21 Euros, showcasing his technical quality and composure on the ball.

According to reports from FRMF Xtra, the player expressed a clear desire to join Morocco’s senior team immediately rather than progressing through youth categories. His wish has now become reality.

Morocco Strengthen Their Diaspora Power
Salah-Eddine’s decision highlights Morocco’s continued success in attracting players with dual nationality, especially those raised in Europe.

He now joins a talented pool that includes Noussair Mazraoui, Souffian El Karouani, and Youssef Belammari, all competing for the left-back position.

At 23, Salah-Eddine remains a developing talent with significant potential. Under Regragui’s guidance, he now has the chance to fulfil that promise and cement his place in Morocco’s senior setup.

His arrival not only strengthens the squad but also reinforces Morocco’s growing influence on international football.
