Hussein Ammouta urges Al Ahly to keep Emam Ashour amid Saudi interest

Al Ahly head coach Hussein Ammouta has reportedly urged the Egyptian champions to retain midfielder Emam Ashour amid reports that Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad are preparing an official bid for the Egypt international.

According to Egyptian outlet Youm7, the Moroccan coach has expressed concern to club officials over the possibility of losing another key player during the current transfer window, warning that further departures could undermine the team’s preparations for the new season.

Amouta seeks stability ahead of new campaign

The report says Ammouta believes Ashour’s departure would be a major setback for Al Ahly, particularly following the exit of Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet” and reports that midfielder Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane has requested to leave the club.

The Moroccan tactician is understood to have stressed that losing several influential players in the same transfer window could disrupt the technical stability the coaching staff is trying to establish before the season begins.

Ashour viewed as key figure

During meetings with the club’s hierarchy, Ammouta reportedly emphasised the importance of preserving the core of the squad to ensure Al Ahly remain competitive across all competitions.

Ashour is regarded as one of the team’s most influential players, with the coach said to have identified him as a central figure in his plans for the upcoming campaign.

While reports suggest Al-Ittihad are preparing to formalise their interest, no official offer has yet been announced, and Al Ahly have not publicly indicated that they are willing to part ways with the midfielder.
