Algerian striker Amin Chiakha scores twice despite Rosenborg defeat
Algerian striker Amin Chiakha continued his strong run of form for Rosenborg BK by scoring twice in their 3-2 home defeat against Aalesunds FK on Saturday.
The 20-year-old forward, who scored his first league goal only last week, wasted little time in adding to his tally by opening the scoring in the third minute of the match.
Played through on goal early in the contest, Chiakha produced a low cross-shot effort from the edge of the penalty area that beat the goalkeeper and gave Rosenborg a dream start.
The Algerian attacker remained active throughout the game and continued to threaten the Aalesund defence with his movement and pace in attack.
He later added a second goal to complete an impressive individual display, although it was ultimately not enough to prevent Rosenborg from suffering another disappointing result at home.
Despite Chiakha’s attacking contribution, Rosenborg were unable to maintain control of the match as Aalesund responded strongly and secured a 3-2 victory.
The defeat leaves Rosenborg in an uncomfortable 14th place in the Norwegian league standings after eight matches, increasing pressure on the club as they search for consistency early in the season.
Chiakha, however, continues to build momentum at an important moment in his career.
The striker’s recent performances come only days before Algeria coach Vladimir Petković announces his final squad for the 2026 World Cup.
His growing form in front of goal is likely to strengthen his hopes of earning a place in the national team setup ahead of the tournament.
After a difficult start to the league campaign for Rosenborg, Chiakha’s emergence has become one of the few positive signs for the Norwegian side, with the young forward increasingly showing confidence in the final third.
Although Rosenborg were unable to take points from the match, the evening once again highlighted the development of the Algerian striker, who appears determined to establish himself both at club level and on the international stage.
