Amin Chiakha scores again as Rosenborg striker continues impressive return to form
Amin Chiakha scored twice for Rosenborg as the Algerian striker continued his impressive run of form, finding the net for the second consecutive match and strengthening his case for a bigger role at the club.
The 20-year-old forward produced another decisive performance on Saturday against Start, opening the scoring from the penalty spot in the 35th minute before adding a second goal in the second half to complete his brace.
Chiakha’s latest goals came after he had already scored against Kristiansund in his previous appearance, meaning he has now registered three goals in his last two matches.
The striker’s recent performances suggest he is beginning to find the consistency that had been missing earlier in his young career.
His overall record now stands at four goals in 13 Eliteserien appearances. However, his improvement has been evident beyond the numbers, with the forward showing greater confidence in attacking positions, making more effective runs into the penalty area and using his physical strength to challenge defenders.
Chiakha joined Rosenborg on loan from FC Copenhagen and has gradually become more influential in the Norwegian side’s attack. His latest displays indicate that the striker is adapting well and gaining the confidence needed to make a bigger impact.
The forward’s form could also increase speculation over his international future. After falling out of favour with Algeria’s national team in recent months, Chiakha’s performances may put him back into consideration.
The three-cap international offers a distinctive attacking profile, combining his ability to compete physically, his aerial strength and his natural finishing ability inside the penalty area. Continued improvement could see him return to discussions surrounding the national team.
Rosenborg will hope Chiakha’s goals can help improve their position in the league table. The club currently sits 11th in the Eliteserien, only three points clear of the relegation zone, with Kristiansund occupying the first position below the safety line.
With important matches ahead, Chiakha’s continued scoring form could prove valuable as Rosenborg look to move away from danger and secure a stronger finish to the season.
