American international of Liberia descent Timothy Weah has revealed the role his father, Oppong Weah played in his move to French outfit Olympique Marseille.
The French giants has announced the signing of the 25-year-old from Italian giants Juventus on loan worth €1m with a mandatory €14m fee with bonuses up to €3m.
Speaking after his unveiling, the enterprising winger revealed that he had consulted his father, before crossing carpet to join Marseille.
“Already 100% I talked to him before coming – he had six months here and the city was just perfect. There’s pressure here but there is pressure in every walk of life, it’s what I can deal with.”
“There was a lot of emotion, I was never welcomed like that at a club before – you want to give everything for the club. In the past I’ve had some injuries and difficulties, but when I came here and heard the supporters shout my name it gave me so much joy.”
Weah returns back to Ligue 1, a league where he has spent the majority of his career during spells at Paris Saint-Germain and Lille OSC. Roberto De Zerbi will be looking to use Weah as either a wingback or a backup for Greenwood on the right side of the Olympien attack.
