Ambrose Ochigbo: Nigeria midfielder joins ES Sahel from Al-Khor SC

Nigeria midfielder Ambrose Ochigbo has joined Tunisian club ES Sahel from Al-Khor SC, completing a move to Ligue 1 after one season in Qatar.

The 20-year-old defensive midfielder has signed a contract with ES Sahel running until 30 June 2029. He joins the Tunisian side after making 12 appearances in the Qatari Second Division during the 2025-26 campaign, registering two assists.

Ochigbo moved to Al-Khor from ES Zarzis in August 2025, having spent the previous part of the 2024-25 season with Saudi Pro League club Al-Kholood. He returned to ES Zarzis at the end of that loan spell before switching to Qatar.

His move to ES Sahel represents a return to Tunisia, where he previously played for ES Zarzis. The transfer also places him in a higher-level domestic competition, with ES Sahel competing in Tunisia’s top flight.

Ochigbo has played across several competitions during his career, including the Saudi Pro League, the QSL Cup and the Amir Cup. He made six Saudi Pro League appearances during his loan spell with Al-Kholood, while also featuring in cup competition.

In total, his recorded senior career includes 15 Ligue 1 appearances, with one goal and one assist, as well as his 12-match campaign in the Qatari second tier. His appearances have come primarily in midfield, where he operates in a defensive role.

The right-footed midfielder, who stands 1.80m tall, began his senior club career with ES Zarzis in 2024 before moving abroad. His time with Al-Kholood was his first recorded spell in Saudi Arabia, followed by the season in Qatar with Al-Khor.

ES Sahel have now secured Ochigbo’s services as they prepare to add him to their Ligue 1 squad. The Nigerian midfielder’s contract with the Tunisian club runs through June 2029.
