AmaZulu in talks to form women’s team, says CEO Sinenjabulo Zungu-Ntuli

AmaZulu are holding discussions with an unnamed women’s club as they consider establishing their own women’s team, chief executive Sinenjabulo Zungu-Ntuli has confirmed.

The club have made no secret of their ambition to add a ladies’ side as AmaZulu continue to develop under owner Sandile Zungu. However, Zungu-Ntuli said the move would bring significant financial, logistical and infrastructure challenges.

“We have very good intentions to have a ladies team,” Zungu-Ntuli said on Ukhozi FM.

“In fact, let me be straight, we have been in talks with one of the clubs.”

She explained that expanding the club’s structure would involve additional costs, while facilities and day-to-day logistics would also need to be addressed.

“The problem that we usually have, whenever you’re going to add a team, there are cost implications. And there’s also implication on facilities and logistics,” she said.

Zungu-Ntuli pointed to AmaZulu’s stadium situation as another obstacle, saying the club would need to consider where a women’s team could play its matches.

“So, that’s one the problems we face. Look at the fact that we don’t have stadiums. Let’s say we have this ladies team, that’s another challenge,” she added.

Despite those difficulties, the AmaZulu CEO said the club were making progress and suggested an announcement could come soon.

“But then we’re not far from [getting things done], you might happen to hear this anytime soon,” said Zungu-Ntuli.
