Auxerre Close to Sealing Amara Baby Transfer
AJ Auxerre are poised to complete the signing of Amara Baby from Châteauroux, with the deal expected to be finalised later today.
According to L’Yonne Républicaine, the 25-year-old winger is set to join the Ligue 2 outfit on a two-year contract, marking another addition to AJA’s summer recruitment drive.
Baby, who is known for his pace and versatility on the left flank, has previously played for Le Mans and Laval, and most recently featured for Châteauroux. Capable of operating as both a winger and full-back, his adaptability is seen as a valuable asset by the Auxerre coaching staff.
The move comes as Auxerre look to strengthen their squad with experienced Ligue 2 players, aiming to climb up the table after a mixed start to the season. Baby’s arrival would add depth and competition on the left side of the pitch, where the club has struggled with injuries and inconsistency.
Born in Le Blanc-Mesnil, Baby is of Senegalese descent and has built a reputation in the French second tier for his work rate and direct style of play. Over the past few seasons, he has gained steady experience, featuring regularly for his clubs and proving to be a reliable presence both in defence and attack.
The transfer marks another chapter in Baby’s career, which has seen him develop steadily through France’s professional ranks. His move to Auxerre represents an opportunity to take on a more prominent role in a club with ambitions of returning to the top flight in the near future.
An official announcement is expected from AJ Auxerre once the formalities are completed.
