Amar Hamdy: Egyptian central midfielder linked with Petrojet move

Amar Hamdy has completed a permanent move from Zed FC to Petrojet, joining the Egyptian Premier League side on a contract running from 2026-02-02 to 2027-06-30. The 26-year-old central midfielder arrives with a current market value of €50k, ending his spell at Zed to become the latest addition to Petrojet’s midfield options.

The transfer is registered as a standard deal between the two Egyptian top-flight clubs, with the fee undisclosed. Hamdy’s switch keeps him in the Premier League in Egypt, where both Zed FC and Petrojet currently compete, and confirms a fresh chapter in a career that has already taken him through several of the country’s prominent sides. The move also means that, barring an extension, the Egyptian international could become a free agent at the end of his new agreement.

Born in Cairo and standing at 1.68m, Hamdy is a right-footed central midfielder whose primary role is listed as midfield – central midfield. Petrojet have secured a player with extensive domestic experience, having come through the ranks at El Ahly Cairo U21 before progressing into one of Egypt’s most decorated clubs, Al Ahly FC. Over the years, he has built a résumé across multiple outfits in the Egyptian system, gaining familiarity with the demands of the country’s top division.

Hamdy’s career path charts a steady tour of Egyptian Premier League sides. After moving from El Nasr to El Ahly Cairo U21, he earned promotion to Al Ahly FC, then experienced a series of loan spells and returns. Those included stints at Ittihad Alexandria SC and Tala’ea El Gaish, where he alternated between loan moves and recalls, before later joining El Mokawloon SC and subsequently Zed FC. Each move kept him within the Egyptian football pyramid, giving him a broad understanding of the league’s tempo and varied tactical approaches.

His market value has fluctuated notably over time, peaking at around €400k during his Al Ahly period, then gradually declining to its current €50k while at Zed FC. That trajectory reflects both the early expectations around his potential and the realities of competitive squad environments at the top level. Nonetheless, Petrojet’s decision to bring him in indicates they see value in his experience and versatility in the centre of the pitch.

At Zed FC, Hamdy’s recent valuation history shows a downward adjustment from €125k to €75k and finally €50k across successive updates, yet he remained a consistent presence in the Premier League. With Petrojet, he now has the opportunity to reassert himself, stabilise his form, and potentially increase his value again as a regular contributor in midfield.

For Petrojet, this confirmed signing adds depth and experience to their central areas, while for Hamdy it represents another chance to re-establish himself as a key figure in Egypt’s top tier. How he performs over the duration of his contract will be crucial: strong displays could open the door to a renewed deal or fresh interest elsewhere, while a downturn might leave him exploring the market as a free agent once his Petrojet agreement expires on 2027-06-30.
