Amadou Kane secures new four-year term as president of ONCAV

Amadou Kane secures new four-year term as president of ONCAV

Amadou Kane has been re-elected as President of the National Organization for the Coordination of Holiday Activities (ONCAV) following an Ordinary General Meeting held on Saturday.

First elected in 2007, Kane will now continue his leadership for another four-year term, having received overwhelming support from the participating delegations.

His reappointment was confirmed by consensus during the gathering, reaffirming his longstanding influence at the helm of the organization.

In his acceptance remarks, Kane thanked the various delegates for their renewed confidence. He pledged to maintain his dedication to the advancement of local sports infrastructure, promising further investment in developing facilities across the country.

The ONCAV President also outlined plans to intensify capacity-building initiatives aimed at departmental and regional delegates, a key pillar of his ongoing vision for strengthening the grassroots sporting community.

Kane emphasized that the modernization of competitions remains a top priority for ONCAV under his stewardship. Promoting youth citizenship through sport, he said, will continue to be a driving force behind the organization’s projects.

He reaffirmed that ONCAV would remain a vehicle for fostering leadership, social engagement, and national pride among young people.

Looking ahead, Kane announced that ONCAV would soon embark on a series of significant reforms intended to position the organization to meet emerging challenges.

Chief among these initiatives is the digital transformation of ONCAV’s activities. Kane underscored the necessity of embracing new technologies to better engage with youth and streamline organizational processes.

Another central component of the reform agenda will be the promotion of participatory governance. Kane stressed the importance of involving all stakeholders in decision-making, ensuring that the voices of local and regional actors are heard and reflected in ONCAV’s strategic direction.

Resource mobilization was also highlighted as an area requiring urgent action. The President acknowledged that for ONCAV to achieve its ambitious goals, it must diversify its funding sources and build strong partnerships with both public and private sector actors.

The Ordinary General Meeting served as more than just an electoral event. It provided an opportunity for delegates to discuss ONCAV’s future priorities, review past achievements, and identify areas for improvement.

The atmosphere was marked by a spirit of collaboration and a shared commitment to enhancing the impact of holiday activities across the nation.

Kane’s re-election arrives at a pivotal moment for ONCAV, with many in the sporting community calling for modernization and increased support for youth programs.

His experience, having led the organization for nearly two decades, is seen by supporters as an asset as ONCAV adapts to a changing environment and seeks to remain relevant to new generations.

As preparations begin for the implementation of the announced reforms, expectations will be high for Kane to deliver on his promises.

The coming years are likely to define not only the legacy of his leadership but also the future direction of ONCAV itself.

With this new mandate, Amadou Kane steps once again into a role that will demand both continuity and innovation, as he seeks to build on past successes while preparing ONCAV for the challenges and opportunities of the future.
