RB Leipzig coach Marco Rose has highlighted areas where Amadou Haidara can elevate his game as the Malian midfielder strives to secure more consistent playing time.
Haidara started in the Champions League clash against Sporting CP, replacing Kevin Kampl, but his 70-minute display left room for improvement.
“Doudou still has room for improvement, like many other boys,” Rose noted ahead of their Bundesliga showdown with Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday. While the 26-year-old showed flashes of quality against Sporting, Rose emphasized the need for sharper performances moving forward. “I saw things against Lisbon that were done well and also things that we want to see better.”
With intense competition in Leipzig’s midfield, Rose is challenging all players to earn their spots on merit. “In the six-position, we currently have many fit and healthy players. The boys on the field have to prove that they are rightly there,” he said.
Rose remained tight-lipped on whether Haidara would feature in the starting lineup against Leverkusen, hinting at Kampl’s likely return. “We will see that tomorrow,” he concluded.
