Guinean midfielder Amadou Diawara is prioritising a return to Serie A as he seeks to revive his career following a difficult spell in recent seasons.
The 27-year-old, currently a free agent after parting ways with Belgian club Anderlecht, is reportedly in talks to secure a move back to Italy, where he previously made a name for himself.
Serie A comeback on the horizon
Diawara, who gained European recognition during his time in Italy, is eager to return to a league where he once thrived.
Despite recent interest from Hungarian side Ferencváros, the defensive midfielder appears to have set his sights on a move to Fiorentina.
According to Africafoot, negotiations between Diawara and the Italian club are expected to accelerate in the coming weeks.
A source close to the player confirmed his preference for a Serie A return, stating:
“There is Spain and Germany, but the boy is considering a return to Italy, which he regrets having left. So, he is waiting for it to come to fruition before informing us.”
A career in transition
Diawara’s time at Anderlecht was marked by frustration, with limited playing opportunities and ongoing disputes with the club’s management.
During his final months in Belgium, he was largely relegated to the reserve squad before ultimately terminating his contract.
Now focused on a fresh start, Diawara is determined to re-establish himself in a top European league.
With experience in Serie A, having previously played for Bologna, Napoli, and Roma, a move back to Italy could provide him with the stability and competitive environment he seeks.
Fiorentina a potential destination
Fiorentina, currently competing in the upper half of the Serie A table, could provide an ideal landing spot for Diawara.
With the club looking to bolster its midfield options, his experience and defensive qualities could make him a valuable addition to the squad.
As discussions continue, Diawara remains patient, hoping to finalise a deal that will see him return to familiar territory.
Whether a move to Fiorentina materialises or another Serie A club comes forward, the Guinean international appears determined to relaunch his career in Italian football.
