Guinean forward Amadou Diakité has embarked on a new chapter in his career after signing a two-and-a-half-year contract with Armenian top-flight club FC Ararat.
The 20-year-old, who previously played for Wakriya AC in Guinea’s Ligue 1, completed his move on February 15 and is set to make his debut in the coming days.
Speaking about his transfer to Africafoot, Diakité expressed his gratitude to his former club while looking forward to the challenges ahead.
“I am very happy to join this Armenian Premier League club. I thank Wakriya AC for these years of training and trust. This club has given me a lot,” he said.
FC Ararat, currently ninth in the Armenian Premier League standings, will be hoping Diakité can strengthen their attack as they push for a stronger finish in the second half of the season.
The young striker is eager to make an impact, recognizing the importance of the final 10 matches.
With FC Ararat, I will give my all to help the team achieve its goals, including moving up the standings in the second half of the championship.
The remaining 10 matches will be crucial and I want to make my contribution, as we are currently 9th out of 11 teams, he added.
Diakité is regarded as one of the most promising talents to emerge from the Guinean championship in recent years.
His move to Armenia marks a significant step in his career as he tests himself in European football for the first time.
The second phase of the Armenian Premier League season kicks off on Tuesday, February 25, with FC Ararat set to face Gandzasar on Friday.
All eyes will be on Diakité as he looks to make an immediate impact and help lift his new club up the table.
