Alvaro Arbeloa says his attention is firmly on Fulham’s meeting with Hull City on Saturday, despite reports that he could be dismissed if his side suffer another defeat.
Fulham are bottom of the Premier League with two points from their opening six games and have yet to win since Arbeloa replaced Marco Silva before the start of the season.
“I am focused on tomorrow’s game, my players, my team. That is the most important thing. It is not about me. It is about the club, the supporters,” Arbeloa said.
Fulham appeared set to claim their first league victory of the campaign against Ipswich Town last weekend, but conceded twice late in the match. They also allowed a lead to slip against Manchester United, while a goalless draw away to Liverpool provided some encouragement.
Arbeloa said his players had demonstrated that they were capable of carrying out his instructions, but stressed they needed to sustain that performance for the full 90 minutes.
“They did for many minutes against Ipswich. We did against Manchester United and we did against Liverpool. For me, we need to try to keep that level for 90 minutes,” he said.
The Spaniard described the build-up to the Hull match as a normal working week and praised the commitment shown by his squad during preparations.
Fulham will face another promoted team next weekend if Arbeloa remains in charge. They are due to travel to Coventry City, the previous season’s Championship winners.
