Canadian forward with Sierra Leone roots, Alphonso Davies scored a decisive goal for Bayern Munich on Tuesday night, ensuring that the team advances to the Round 16 stage of the Uefa Champions League.
The full-back was named in the matchday squad of the German giants for the crucial second-leg clash against Celtic but missed out on a starting role.
In the 64th minute of the second half, he was introduced into the game to replace Raphael Guerreiro.
The substitution was made just one minute after Celtic had equalised through Nicolas-Gerrit Kuhn.
That goal restored parity to the tie, forcing both teams to push men forward in search of the deciding goal.
Later in added time, substitute Alphonso Davies found the back of Celtic’s net after latching onto a rebound.
His equalizer made it 1-1, and 3-2 for Bayern Munich on aggregate.
The result means Alphonso Davies and Bayern Munich are through to the Round 16 stage of this season’s Uefa Champions League.
