Alphonso Davies returns to Bayern Munich training after injury

Alphonso Davies has returned to Bayern Munich training in encouraging shape after missing much of the summer with a thigh injury.

The left-back had been expected to stay sidelined a little longer, but his recent involvement has reopened the door to a spot on the club’s upcoming Asia tour.

Davies barely featured at the World Cup because the injury he picked up in May kept slowing his recovery. He managed only a brief appearance in the round of 16, and Canada then left him out of the next match against Morocco because the discomfort had returned. The extra rest now seems to have helped him reset.

According to reports from Germany, Davies took part fully in a training game on Tuesday and looked sharp enough to make Bayern’s staff think twice about their original plan. A late decision will now determine whether he travels for the Audi Summer Tour, where Bayern are scheduled to play two friendlies in Asia.

For Bayern, the update is a welcome one. Davies remains one of their most valuable defensive options, and his availability would strengthen the squad as preseason steps up.
