Alphonso Davies future at Bayern remains uncertain

Alphonso Davies’ future at Bayern Munich is suddenly back in doubt, despite the long contract he signed earlier this year.

Reports say representatives from several Saudi clubs have already sounded out the situation, although no formal bid or concrete negotiation has started yet.

Bayern are not ruling out a sale, mainly because Davies’ role has diminished and his salary is among the highest in the squad. That is a notable shift for a player who renewed his deal until 2030 only in early 2025, but the arrival of Nathaniel Brown has changed the picture on the left side of defence.

Brown is seen as a preferred signing by Vincent Kompany and could push Davies into a tougher fight for minutes. Davies has also been hampered by injuries over the past two seasons, including a cruciate ligament tear, muscle problems and hamstring issues, and he was limited to a brief appearance at the World Cup.

Canada assistant coach Paul Stalteri remains confident, saying Davies is still one of the world’s best left-backs and should bounce back once fully fit. For now, Bayern and the player are waiting to see whether Saudi interest becomes real before the window closes.
