ALPHA CONDE: “SENEGAL PLAYS AT “HOME” IN GUINEA!

President Alpha Condé of the Republic of Guinea expressed pride in hosting Senegal for a World Cup qualifying match against Angola in Conakry, despite Senegal being under suspension from their home stadium. The Guinean president shared that the 50,000-seat stadium would be ready before September for the Senegal-Uganda match, allowing Senegal to continue hosting matches in Guinea until their suspension is lifted.

President Condé commended the organization of the recent match between Senegal and Angola, emphasizing the longstanding relations between Guinea and Senegal. He noted that the match held special significance and could not have taken place anywhere else but in Conakry.

The Guinean President extended his gratitude to the Senegalese government for agreeing to participate in the significant match, considering it a reciprocal gesture between the two nations. President Condé pledged support to ensure that everything would be in place for Senegal’s next match against Uganda in Conakry in September.

Senegal had been suspended by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) since December for a one-year period, following incidents at the Léopold Senghor stadium in October 2012. As a result of the suspension, Senegal is required to host its matches at an alternative venue.
