Alou Diarra Eyes Possible Return to Bordeaux Following West Ham Exit
Alou Diarra, the experienced French international midfielder, is reportedly considering a return to Ligue 1, potentially rejoining his former club Girondins de Bordeaux. The 33-year-old, whose contract with West Ham has come to an end, is currently training with Bordeaux as he contemplates the next step in his career.
Diarra, who made 44 appearances for the French national team without scoring, spent four influential seasons at Bordeaux between 2007 and 2011. Speaking candidly to Le Parisien, he expressed openness to a homecoming. “If they offer me something, I’ll listen. If it has to happen naturally with Bordeaux, it will happen given the relationship we have,” he said. “It would be nice to sign even if the group has evolved a lot since my departure.”
Known for his leadership and midfield versatility, Diarra’s potential return would bring valuable experience to a Bordeaux side that has undergone significant changes since his earlier tenure. The club and player appear to share mutual respect, suggesting negotiations could progress smoothly if both parties find common ground.
As he evaluates his options, Diarra’s familiarity with the club and Ligue 1 could be key factors influencing his decision to rejoin Bordeaux and continue his career in France.
