Almugera Kabar joins NEC Nijmegen from Dortmund in Eredivisie loan move

Germany and Libya defender Almugera Kabar has joined NEC Nijmegen from Dortmund on loan, giving the Eredivisie club a new left-back for the 2026-27 campaign.

Kabar, 20, has signed a contract with NEC running until 30 June 2027. The move takes him from Germany’s Bundesliga to the Netherlands’ top flight, marking a change of league for a player who has already featured at senior level in Germany.

Born in Bremen on 6 June 2006, Kabar is a left-footed defender who stands 1.86m tall. He has made six Bundesliga appearances, playing 149 minutes, and also recorded 14 appearances and 974 minutes in the 3. Liga. His senior experience includes time in both of Germany’s professional divisions before his switch to Nijmegen.

Kabar’s development at youth level included a productive spell in the U17-Bundesliga West, where he scored five goals and supplied three assists in 23 appearances. He also found the net seven times in 21 Regionalliga West matches, while registering two goals and one assist from 17 U19-Bundesliga West appearances.

He has represented Germany at youth international level and was part of the side that won both the Under-17 World Cup and European Under-17 Championship in 2023. Those titles came during a notable period in his early career, alongside appearances in the UEFA Youth League and the Premier League International Cup.

Kabar also played in the Premier League International Cup, where he scored once in four appearances, and won the competition. His record includes further youth-level experience in Germany, with appearances in the U17 and U19 competitions.

The full-back’s move to NEC adds a defender with experience across youth and senior football, as well as a record of success with Germany Under-17s. He will wear the NEC colours after leaving Dortmund on a loan transfer, with his new contract recorded through June 2027.
