Almamy Toure back training with Bordeaux as contract talks continue

Almamy Toure could be on his way to extending his stay at Bordeaux after turning up for training at the Haillan this week, despite being without a contract since the end of June.

The 30-year-old Malian defender’s presence has fuelled hopes that a fresh deal may still be agreed as the club waits for clarity on its sporting future.

Bordeaux are due to appear before the CNOSF in the hope of being reinstated to National 1, and that decision will shape the rest of their transfer window. For now, the club is trying to keep its squad intact while also looking for reinforcements, even though the uncertainty around next season makes planning difficult.

The Girondins had already offered contract extensions to Touré and Jean Grillot. Grillot has yet to respond and has been training on trial at Clermont, while Touré has returned to group sessions under Rio Mavuba. According to local reports, the former Monaco player is mainly working on fitness at the moment, but a longer stay is still possible.

If Bordeaux are restored to the third tier, they could move quickly to fill gaps in the squad.
