Al Ahly’s Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng will return to the Egyptian giants at the end of the season, but his participation in the FIFA Club World Cup remains uncertain.
According to Kooora a source close to Al Ahly dismissed reports suggesting the club had formally notified Dieng about taking part in the tournament, set to take place from June 15 to July 13 in the United States.
Dieng is currently on loan at Saudi Arabian side Al-Kholood, but his deal expires when the Saudi League season concludes.
“The club does not need to send an official call-up since his loan ends automatically,” the source told Kooora.
The source clarified that Dieng’s contract does not include an option for Al-Kholood to buy or extend the loan, ensuring his return to Al Ahly.
His participation in the Club World Cup will depend on external transfer offers and the plans of Swiss coach Marcel Koller.
Before leaving for Saudi Arabia, Dieng extended his contract with Al Ahly until the summer of 2027.
