Aliou Cissé in talks to take charge of Angola as head coach after Libya exit
Senegal football icon Aliou Cissé is reportedly in advanced discussions with the Angolan Football Association over a potential appointment as head coach of the national team.
The development comes shortly after Cissé’s sudden departure from his role as Libya’s head coach.
The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations winner confirmed his exit on Wednesday via his official Instagram account, following a friendly against Liberia.
Cissé’s spell with Libya was marked by a blend of inconsistent results and administrative challenges.
Appointed in March 2025 on a contract running until 2027, he was tasked with stabilising a side that has struggled to make a strong impact on the continental stage.
During his 12-month tenure, the former Senegal manager oversaw 10 matches, securing three wins, five draws, and two defeats.
If an agreement is reached, Cissé will take charge of Angola’s national team, known as the Palancas Negras, as they look to strengthen their position in African football.
