Aliou Badji completes move to Greek top-flight club Levadiakos

Senegal striker Aliou Badji has completed his move to Greek Super League side Levadiakos, who have officially confirmed the signing of the former Al Ahly forward.

Levadiakos have brought in Badji to lead their attack as they prepare for their campaign in Greece’s top division. The club announced the deal after completing the required procedures for the transfer.

Badji began his career in Senegal with Casa Sports before making his first move to Europe in 2017, when he joined Swedish club Djurgardens.

His performances in Sweden led to a move to Austria, where he continued his career with Rapid Vienna. Badji then moved to Egypt to join Al Ahly, one of Africa’s most successful clubs.

During his time with Al Ahly, Badji made 25 appearances, scoring four goals and providing eight assists. He also won the league title, the domestic cup and the CAF Champions League with the Egyptian side.

The Senegal international returned to Europe in 2021 after joining Turkish club Ankaragucu. His next move took him to France, where he represented Amiens before later playing for Bordeaux.

Badji then returned to Turkey and featured for Gaziantep and Sivasspor. His latest transfer takes him to Levadiakos, where he will now continue his career in the Greek top flight.

The move marks another stage in a career that has taken the striker across several European leagues, with spells in Sweden, Austria, Turkey and France following his early development in Senegal.

Levadiakos will hope Badji’s experience, including his time with Al Ahly and his record of winning major domestic and continental honours, can strengthen their attacking options. The club’s official announcement confirms that he has joined their squad ahead of his latest challenge in Greece.

Badji’s route to Levadiakos has included clubs from four different European countries. He first crossed into European football with Djurgardens in 2017, before moving to Rapid Vienna and then Al Ahly. After leaving Egypt, he returned to Europe through Ankaragucu and subsequently played for Amiens and Bordeaux.

His later spells with Gaziantep and Sivasspor brought him back to Turkey before Levadiakos secured his signature. The Greek club will now rely on the 25 appearances, four goals and eight assists he recorded during his time with Al Ahly, as well as the experience gained from competing for league, cup and CAF Champions League honours.
