Alidu Seidu set to join OGC Nice on loan from Stade Rennais

Alidu Seidu is set to leave Stade Rennais and join OGC Nice on a season-long loan after the two Ligue 1 clubs reached an agreement, according to Sacha Tavolieri.

The deal does not include an option to buy, with recent discussions allowing the final details of the move to be completed quickly.

Seidu, 26, must still undergo a medical before the temporary transfer can be formally confirmed. If he passes the examination, the Ghana international will join the OGC Nice squad and begin the next stage of his career on the Cote d’Azur.

The defender joined Stade Rennais from Clermont Foot in January 2024 and gradually established himself in the Brittany club’s squad. His versatility and defensive work have been important factors in his development at Rennes.

Seidu can play at centre-back or on the right side of defence, and that ability to cover several positions is expected to give OGC Nice more options at the back. His athletic profile could also strengthen the club’s defensive resources.

The loan agreement does not give OGC Nice the option to make the transfer permanent. Unless the two clubs reach a further agreement, Seidu is therefore expected to return to Stade Rennais at the end of the season.

He remains under contract with Rennes until June 2029 and is valued at 6 million euros by Transfermarkt.

Stade Rennais are due to play their fifth Ligue 1 match of the season against Olympique Lyonnais.
