Ali Sowe: Gambian-Italian striker linked with Erzurumspor FK move from Rizespor

Ali Sowe, the Gambian-Italian centre-forward currently at Caykur Rizespor, is being linked with a Super Lig switch to Erzurumspor FK. The 32-year-old, who wears the No 9 shirt for Rizespor, is under contract until 30 June 2028 but is attracting interest after establishing himself as a reliable goalscorer in Turkey’s top flight.

Sowe has extensive Super Lig experience, with 127 appearances and 45 goals, and his record in Turkey’s top tier is understood to be a key factor in Erzurumspor’s interest as they look to add a proven option in attack. He also has a reputation for end-product in cup competitions, having scored six times in 16 appearances in the Turkish Cup.

The forward joined Rizespor on a free transfer from Russian side Rostov in July 2025, having already spent the 2024-25 campaign on loan at the Black Sea club. His market value is currently estimated at €1.5 million, a figure that would shape any negotiations between the Super Lig sides.

Born in Banjul and standing at 1.91m, Sowe has built a career across several European leagues, including productive spells in Bulgaria and Albania. He was top scorer in the 2017-18 Kategoria Superiore season with 21 goals and helped KF Skenderbeu to the Albanian title and cup that year, achievements that underlined his finishing ability.

For now, Sowe remains tied to a long-term deal at Rizespor, who would not be under pressure to sell given his contract running through to 2028.
