Ali Maâloul, the Tunisian left-back for Al Ahly, has expressed immense joy at captaining the Red Devils for the first time in his career.
Taking to his official Instagram account, Maâloul stated: “Another beautiful day in my journey with Al Ahly, honored to wear the captain’s armband for the greatest club in the universe for the first time in my tenure with the team.”
He continued: “I owe Al Ahly and its fans all the love, appreciation, and respect, and that moment will remain in my memory like all our happy moments together within the club of the century.”
Maâloul wore the captain’s armband for Al Ahly for the first time since joining the Red Devils in 2016, marking a significant achievement among all foreign players in the club’s history.
The Tunisian star received the captaincy after Karim Nedved was substituted for Akram Tawfik in the 60th minute.
The absence of Al Ahly’s regular captains, Amr El-Sulaya, who sustained an injury during warm-up before the match, goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy, and right-back Mohamed Hani, led to Maâloul being handed the armband following Nedved’s exit.
