Ali Ahamada: Franco-Comorian Goalkeeper Attracts Interest from Valenciennes

Valenciennes Eye Move for Toulouse Goalkeeper Ali Ahamada

BBC-style report – under 500 words

Toulouse goalkeeper Ali Ahamada could be on his way out of the Ligue 1 club before the transfer window closes, with relegated side Valenciennes showing keen interest in securing his services.

Ahamada, 22, has seen his playing time significantly reduced at Toulouse, where he has slipped down the pecking order and now largely features as a backup. According to reports from L’Équipe, the young shot-stopper has emerged as a transfer target for Valenciennes as they look to bolster their goalkeeping options following their drop to Ligue 2 last season.

Valenciennes, eager to reinforce their squad ahead of the new campaign, are reportedly in active discussions with Toulouse about a potential deal for Ahamada. The northern club has also made enquiries about experienced free agent Grégory Malicki, indicating their strong desire to add depth and competition between the posts.

With the summer transfer deadline set for August 31, a move for Ahamada could materialise quickly should the two clubs reach an agreement.

Ahamada, who made his professional debut for Toulouse in 2011, initially established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper, earning praise for his reflexes and shot-stopping ability. However, over time he has struggled to maintain a consistent starting role and now finds himself seeking more regular playing time elsewhere.

For Valenciennes, the addition of a young but experienced Ligue 1 goalkeeper could prove vital as they aim to mount a challenge for promotion back to the top flight. Talks are ongoing, and both parties will be hoping to reach a resolution before the transfer window shuts.

Should the deal go through, it would represent a fresh start for Ahamada and a strategic reinforcement for Valenciennes as they begin life in Ligue 2.
